Coby Brinkers' ceramic objects are a world within themselves: serene, quiet,
ascetic. Not inaccessible, but like well-considered buildings. The creator
herself points to architectonic notions like rhythm, equilibrium and to pure
forms like cube and circle. Good architecture is in equilibrium: the function
harmonizes with what the exterior radiates.
What happens inside Brinkers' work cannot be put into words uniquely, but
there is a palpable equilibrium between interior and exterior.
The intimate inner worlds are directly expressed into form. With often geometric
forms and minimal use of colors, the relatively small objects, like scale models
of something much bigger, eradiate monumentality and serenity.
